Alkaline ElectrolyserThe use of an intermittent and varying electricity supply, such as that generated by a renewable energy source, frequently causes the failure of conventional electrolysers through cyclic degradation of their cell stack. Therefore the HMGS utilises a state-of-the-art electrolyser designed specifically by the Pure Energy Centre for use with a renewable energy supply. This bespoke electrolyser includes the most advanced electrolysis technology to deliver the best performance in terms of efficiency and maintenance simplicity.

The hydrogen production rate from the electrolyser system is automatically controllable between maximum production rate (100%) and 20% production rate allowing the hydrogen production output to be optimised in relation to the available wind power energy.

The novel design of the electrodes and complete stack enables the electrolyser to sustain frequent power interruptions without cyclic degradation. Field data has shown that operational systems can withstand in excess of 19,000 cycles without any noticeable degradation in system performance.
